How follower growth rate is calculated

Follower growth rate compares how many followers you have now with how many you had at the start of a period. The formula is:

Growth rate = (followers now − followers at start) ÷ followers at start × 100

For example, going from 2,000 to 2,300 followers is a gain of 300, and 300 ÷ 2,000 = 15% growth. Over 30 days that is an average of 10 followers per day.

Why percentage matters more than raw numbers

Gaining 300 followers means very different things for an account of 2,000 and an account of 200,000. The percentage lets you compare periods fairly as your account gets bigger, and compare yourself with your own past instead of with accounts of a different size.

Steady gain versus compound growth

The calculator shows two simple projections. A steady gain assumes you keep adding the same number of followers each day. A compound rate assumes the percentage stays the same, so the number of new followers grows as the account grows. Real accounts usually sit somewhere in between, and growth often comes in bursts after a video or post does well.

Picking a useful period

There is no official benchmark for a "good" growth rate. It depends on platform, niche and account size, and smaller accounts normally show higher percentages. Compare against your own earlier periods.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good follower growth rate?

There is no official benchmark. A few percent a month can be healthy for an established account, while small new accounts often grow faster in percentage terms. Compare with your own previous periods.

Does the calculator work for any platform?

Yes. It only needs follower counts and a number of days, so it works for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook and others.

Can the growth rate be negative?

Yes. If you lost followers, the result shows a negative percentage and a falling projection.

Why is my projection so different from reality?

Growth is uneven and depends on what you post, so projecting forward is only a rough guide. Compound projections especially overshoot over long periods.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.
