X (Twitter) Account Suspended: How to Appeal and What to Write
An X suspension, a locked account and a temporary limit are three different things. The first step is to figure out which one you have.

Read the notice, follow its steps, and appeal through the X help center form with a short factual message. Do not use ban evasion accounts, and do not appeal repeatedly.
Suspended, locked or limited?
| Status | What it usually means | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Locked | You must verify or delete flagged posts to continue | Follow the steps in the notice |
| Temporarily limited | A short restriction on posting or reach | Wait and slow down |
| Suspended | X has removed access to the account | Appeal through the help center |
Common reasons for suspension
- Spam or platform manipulation, including automation and mass follows.
- Abuse or harassment.
- Impersonation or fake identity.
- Sharing prohibited or harmful content.
- Evading a previous suspension.
How to appeal
- Open the notice and note the rule it cites.
- Go to the appeal form in the X help center. Use the official site only.
- Include your handle, the email on the account and a short, honest explanation.
- If you broke a rule, say what you changed. If you did not, give the context of the post or activity.
- Use the appeal message generator for wording.
- Appeal once and wait. Check your email for the response.
What not to do
- Do not open a new account to keep posting.
- Do not send many appeals.
- Do not pay anyone who claims they can restore the account.
Prevent the next one
- Do not use auto-posting or mass-follow tools.
- Avoid copy-pasting the same reply to many accounts.
- Keep your email and two-factor authentication up to date so you can verify when asked.

This guide is general information based on platform help pages and user reports, not an official statement from the platform. Rules and timings change, so check the platform's own notice and Help Center. Never pay anyone who promises to unban an account, and never share passwords, codes or ID with them.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an X appeal take?
X does not publish a fixed time. Reports vary from days to weeks.
Is a locked account the same as suspended?
No. A locked account usually has steps you can complete to regain access.
Can I make a new account?
Creating one to evade a suspension breaks the rules and can lead to more bans.
